This Holy Day

Today, this holiday, this holy day,
we spend time with those we love.

Today, social networking means sharing stories, laughing, and talking;
not Facebook, twitter, and Instagram.

Today, gaming means monopoly, nertz, and charades;
not candy crush, FarmVille, and grand theft auto.

Today, we go outside and play football, basketball, or soccer;
instead of sitting on the couch
watching someone get paid millions of dollars
to do the exact same thing.

Today, as we should everyday,
we eat on the nice china and crystal
instead of the paper cups and plates,
because if we are inviting Jesus in our home on this holy day,
we want to serve Him the best.
This is the day that The Lord has made.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
He deserves all the glory and honor and praise.
We do not deserve what we are thankful for.

Today, we do not compare the haves and the have-nots.
Instead we celebrate life.
We celebrate the things that cannot be represented by materialistic things;
such as life, freedom, friends, family, salvation, happiness.
Happiness is a way to travel, not a destination.
Which is why it is the thankful people who are happy,
not the happy people who are thankful.
How are you possibly thankful
when are concentrating so hard on being sad or mad?

Today, we turn off the phones, computers, tablets, iPods, TVs, and xboxs;
and instead turn on our voices, hearts, minds, and souls.
We open our eyes to the beauty around us.
We open our ears to the joyful noises.
We open our hands to hold one another.
We stand on our feet to walk with one another.
We breathe the fresh air and feel the warmth from embracing one another.

Whether it is Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving,
Valentine's day, Fourth of July, birthdays,
Mother's Day, Father's Day, or New Year's Eve,
we celebrate the moments we have together
and we thank God for the blessings He provides.

  2. Beautifully Stated. Truth. Thankful. Some moments are oh so precious. Some moments we'll never see again. Some moments mean we have eternity. And those moments, well, they will never cease to be glorious.
